Hailed by Big Country front man Bruce Watson as the “new home of music” the PKD Festival in Dalgety Bay has taken huge steps to make next years event even bigger and better than ever before.
Organisers of the event, which sees 17 live bands, The East Coast Motorbike Show, over 50 community stalls, over 30 inflatable activities in the kids zone, a food court and a fully licensed bar, have announced big changes to next years event.
Mark Bennett and Stuart Prentice, who have ran the event from its humble beginnings 6 years ago, have pulled out all the stops to make next years event one to remember.
The venue has changed to The Dalgety Bay Sports centre. The bigger venue allows for several additions for PKD 2015. These will include fairground rides such as Dodgems, waltzers, tea cups for the kids and more. It will also see the addition of a second stage allowing for more bands and less time between band changeovers. There will be more bike exhibitors than ever before and the number of community stalls will be more than doubled.
Next year’s event also sees a change of charity partner. All money raised from the event will be going to Kingdom Kids, a children’s charity run by Kingdom FM benefitting sick and underprivileged kids in Fife and Poppy Scotland.
The big announcements don’t end there. Some of the headline acts have already been released and include Big Country, X Simple Minds (the original Simple Minds line up), The Animals (with friends) and Kirsten Adamson (daughter of former Big Country singer Stuart Adamson). There is also the promise of at least another two big names to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Due to the expected size of this years event organisers have made the decision to make it entry by ticket only. Entry to the East Coast Bike show will still be free, but entry to the main arena will be £20 for a ticket. As it is still being billed as a family friendly event this ticket will include a free child ticket (under 16). All tickets will entitle unlimited rides on the fairground rides and unlimited play for the kids in the kids zone. Additional kids tickets can be purchased for £5 each and will also include an unlimited play band.
Tickets will be available through Ticketmaster and also locally from The Bay Inn.
PKD 7 will be held on 25th July 2015 and certainly looks all set to put Dalgety Bay on the map for music. Even with the new ticketed entry it is still a very affordable family day out, and with the exception of your food and drink it really is now an all inclusive package.
